で「靖国神社は長く中国と韓国との外交摩擦のもとになっている。同神社が数百万人の戦死者とともに有罪判決を下された戦争犯罪者を祭っているためだ。それで岸田首相は金曜日までの春季例大祭の間には訪問しなかった。」という意味になります。

Yasukuni has long been ～ で「靖国は長く～だった」です。
have been ～ に long「長く、長い間」という意味の副詞が挿入されたコロケーションです。
例：It has long been argued that ～.「～ということが長く議論されてきた。」
a source of diplomatic friction で「外交摩擦の元」です。
diplomatic friction で「外交摩擦、外交上の不和」です。
friction で「摩擦、擦れること、不和、抵抗」という意味の名詞です。
例：friction drag「摩擦抵抗」
diplomatic は「外交上の」という意味の形容詞。
diplomat[ディ]プロマトゥ で「外交官」となります。
diplomatic friction with China and South Korea で「中国と韓国との外交摩擦」となります。

as ～ が理由を意味する接続詞で「～なので」
the shrine honors convicted war criminals で「その神社が有罪判決を受けた戦争犯罪者たちを称えている（ので）」です。
honor はここでは動詞で「～をたたえる、～を称賛する」という意味になります。
convicted コン[ヴィ]クティドゥで「有罪判決を受けた」という意味の形容詞です。
a war criminal で「戦争犯罪者」という意味になります。
criminal は形容詞のようですが名詞としても使えて「犯罪者」という意味になります。
along with millions of war dead, で「数百万もの戦死者たちと一緒に」です。
war dead も同じく名詞で「戦死者、戦没者」です。

and ～ はここでは「なので～、だから～」と理由・帰結の意味になります。
Kishida did not make a visit で「岸田（首相）は訪問しなかった」です。
make a visit（to ～） で「～に訪問する」という意味のコロケーションです。

during the festival period through Friday. で「その祭事期間は、金曜日に至るまで」です。
the festival period とは靖国神社の春季例大祭のことを指しています。
through Friday の through はここでは「～に至るまで、～までを含んで、～がすっかり終わるまで」という until に近い意味の用法です。
例：through the end of ～「～の終わりまで」、through tomorrow night「明日の夜が明けるまで」
