Unfortunately, で「残念なことに、不幸なことに」です。
they’re not sure whether you qualify で「彼らは～かどうか確証がない、あなた方が条件を満たしているかどうか」です。
they は alien overlords のことです。
be not sure whether ～ で「～かどうか確証がない」です。be not sure if ～ とも言えます。
(whether) you qualify で「あなたがたが適格（かどうか）」
you はエイリアンにつかまった10人の人間たち。qualify は前述の「高度に論理的で協力的な生き物」という条件を満たしているかどうかということですね。

so ～「なので～」
they decide to give you all a test. で「彼らは～すると決めた、あなたがた全員にあるテストを与えることを」です。
give ～ … で「～に…を与える」です。give … to ～ とも言っても同じです。
you all で「あなたたち全員」という意味になります。

Through its universal translator, で「あらゆる知識に通じた通訳者を通して」です。
its は後に出てくる「看守エイリアン」のことを指しています。
universal は「普遍的な」という意味でおなじみですが、ここでは「万能の、あらゆる知識に通じた、何にでも対応可能な」という意味です。
例：universal adapter「万能アダプター」、universal advice「どんな状況にも使えるアドバイス」

the alien guarding you tells you the following: で「あなたたちを見張っているエイリアンが、あなたたちに、以下のことを伝えます」です。
ちょっと分かりづらいですが、the alien guarding you が主語になって「エイリアン、あなたたちをガードしている（エイリアン）」です。
つまり「看守」のことですね。
the following: で「以下のこと」です。コロン以下に続く内容を受けています。

You will be placed in a single-file line で「あなたたちは、（～の状態に）置かれる、縦一列の状態に」です。
in a line で「まっすぐに、一列に」です。
single-file は「1列縦隊」という意味です。
ここでの file はチェスなどの「縦の列」という意味になっています。
ちなみにチェスの横の列は rank となります。
facing forward は「前方をむいて」です。
face は「～の方に顔を向ける」という意味の動詞です。
さらにin size order　で「サイズ順に」です。
in ～ order で「～順に」という意味が作れます。
例：in chronological order「古い順に、時系列で」
so that ～ で「～できるように、～するように」という意味の接続詞
each of you can see everyone lined up ahead of you. で「あなたたち一人ひとりが、全員を見れる（ように）、あなたの前方に並んでる全員を」です。
each of you で「あなたたち一人ひとりが」です。
everyone lined up ahead of you. で「全員、あなたの前に並んでる」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
