The person was small and wore a large brimmed hat and women’s clothing when entering the room, but was wearing black attire when leaving, they said. An autopsy of the victim revealed that the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock and that his head was severed after death.

で「その人物は小柄で、入室時にはつば広の帽子をかぶって女装していたが、部屋を出る時には黒い衣装を着ていたと言う。被害者の死体解剖によると、死因は出血性ショックで、頭部は死後に切断されたものだと判明した。」という意味になります。

The person was small で「その人物は小柄だった」です。
セキュリティーカメラに写っていた犯人と思しき人物のことですね
and ～「そして～」
wore a large brimmed hat and women’s clothing で「つばの大きい帽子と女性の衣服を着ていた」です。
wore ウォアは wear「～を着る」の過去形。
a large brimmed hat で「つば広の帽子、つばの大きい帽子」です。
brim で「縁、へり、帽子のつば」です。
when entering the room, で「その部屋に入るときには」

but ～「しかし～」
was wearing black attire で「黒い衣服を着ていた」です。
主語は、最初の The person です。
attire アタイアは clothing, clothes と同様に「衣服、衣装」です。
例：formal attire「正装」、traditional attire「伝統衣装」
when leaving で「出ていくときには」です。
leave は「～を後にする、～を去る」です。
they said. で「～と彼らは言った」です。
they は記事中で先に出てきている the sources「情報筋、関係者」を指しています。

An autopsy of the victim で「その被害者の検視」です。
autopsy [オ]ートプスィで「検視、死体解剖」です。
revealed that ～ で「～ということを明らかにした」です。
reveal リヴィーォで「～を暴露する、～を明らかにする」という意味の動詞です。
どういうことを明らかにした（revealed）かというと、
(that) the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock で「死因は出血性ショックだった（ということ）」です。
cause of death で「死因、死の原因」
hemorrhagic ヘモ[ラ]ジクで「出血の」という意味の形容詞。
名詞形は hemorrhage [ヘ]モリジで「（多量の）出血」です。
例：hemorrhagic diarrhea「出血性の下痢」
and that ～ で「また～ということも（明らかにした）」です。
(that) his head was severed after death. で「彼の頭部は切断された、死後に」です。
severed は sever セヴァー「～を断ち切る、切断する、切り離す」の過去形です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
