Today, my 8-year-old nephew told me he liked the way I smelt. Apparently I smell like “cat food and cheese.” FML
で「今日、8歳の甥が私の匂いが好きだと言ってきた。どうやら私はキャットフードとチーズのような匂いがするらしい。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

nephew は「甥、おい」ですね。
relatives「親戚」関係の表現をおさらいしておきましょう。
niece「姪」
cousin「いとこ」
aunt「叔母」
uncle「叔父」

told me ～ で「～だと言ってきた」です。
何と言ってきたかというと
he liked the way I smelt で「彼は私の匂いが好きだ」と言ってきたとのことです。とのことです。
like the way I smell で「私の匂いが好き」となります。
the way someone do で「人が～するところ」という意味になります。
例：I like the way she does her hair.「彼女の髪型が好きだ」

Apparently は「どうやら、～らしい」という意味の副詞です。

I smell like “cat food and cheese.” で「私はキャットフードとチーズのような匂いがする」となります。。
今回の like は「～のような」という意味です。
例：smell like chlorine「塩素のような匂いがする」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

８歳の甥が私に言ってきた

he liked the way I smelt.
私の匂いが好きだと

Apparently
どうやら～らしい
