Today, I got a call from my son’s teacher. Apparently, while doing a test, he responded to the question, “Predict how the government will change in the next ten years” with, “I’m not psychic.” FML
で「今日、息子の先生から電話をもらった。どうやら、テストの時に、息子が『今後10年で政府がどう変わるかを予測しなさい。』という問題に『僕は超能力者じゃない。』と答えたらしい。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

I got a call from my son’s teacher で「私は電話を受けた、息子の先生からの」です。
get a call from ～ で「～から電話をもらう」という意味の言い回しです。

Apparently, ～「どうやら～らしい」

while doing a test, で「テストをしている時に」です。
while ～ は「～の間に、～の期間中に」という意味の接続詞です。
基本的に接続詞なので、後には文が続くのですが、
主節と主語が同じ場合は、今回のように（どちらもHe）、省略される場合が多いです。

he responded to the question で「息子は答えた、～という質問に」です。

どんな質問かというと、
“Predict how the government will change in the next ten years” で『政府がどう変わるかを予測しなさい、今後10年で』です。
predict プリ[ディ]クトゥは「～を予測する、～を予言する」という意味の動詞です。
pre-（先に）＋ dict（述べる）です。
名詞形は prediction で「予言、予測」です。
the government で「（自国の）政府」です。
in the next ten years で「今後10年で」となります。
in the next decade とも言えます。

何と答えたかというと、
with, “I’m not psychic.” で「『僕は超能力者じゃない』と」です。
respond to ～ with … の形で「～に…という答えを返す」です。
psychic サイキックは「超能力者、霊能力者」という意味の名詞または形容詞です。
例：I’m very psychic.「私は霊感が強いです。」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

私は電話を受けた

from my son’s teacher.
息子の先生から

Apparently,
どうやら～らしい

while doing a test,
テストの時

he responded
息子は…と答えたらしい

to the question,
～という質問に
