京都の説明文ですね。

「千年以上ものあいだ国の首都であった京都」という意味になります。
for over ～「～以上もの間」という言い回しはよく使うのでチェックしておきましょう。
例：for over a century「一世紀以上もの間」

offers a number of uniquely Japanese cultural experiences for tourists で「旅人に、いくつもの日本独自の文化的な体験を提供します」です。
a number of ～ で「多くの～、たくさんの～」という意味になります。

セミコロン（;）の後は、その日本独自の文化体験の例を挙げています。
最後の、to name a few は、「２～３個例を挙げると」という意味の慣用句です。

the city has many temples, shrines, and UNESCO World Heritage sites で「たくさんの寺、神社、UNESCO世界遺産地があります。」
UNESCO World Heritage で「UNESCO世界遺産」となります。
site は「場所、用地、敷地」という意味の名詞です。
例：tourist site「観光地」、scenic sites「景勝地」
