米国の天文学者、カール・セーガン博士の言葉です。

The dangers of not thinking clearly are much greater now than ever before. It’s not that there’s something new in our way of thinking – it’s that credulous and confused thinking can be much more lethal in ways it was never before.

で「今、理路整然と考えられないことの危険性は、以前にも増してずっと大きくなっています。何か新しい考え方があるわけではなく、妄信し混乱してしまう考えは、以前ではなかった形で、ずっと致命的になり得るということなのです。」という意味になります。

カール・セーガンは、宇宙探査の分野で活躍した20世紀屈指の米国の科学者。
宇宙探査機ヴォイジャーに搭載した「ゴールデン・レコード」の製作者として知られています。
また、地球工学を用いて人間が居住可能になるよう他惑星の環境を変化させる「テラ・フォーミング」も提唱しています。

1996年、自著「悪霊にさいなまれる世界（The Demon-Haunted World）」出版時のインタビューの一節。

本書は、宇宙を理解し、人々を超自然現象への恐れから解き放つ手段としての科学について書かれたものです。
非科学的な迷信やオカルトなどを信じる人への警告ですね。
彼は科学を「悪霊がさまよう闇の世界を照らすろうそくの光（a candle in the dark）」と比喩で表現しています。

The dangers of not thinking clearly が主語です。
「理路整然と考えないことの危険性」です。
the dangers of ～ で「～の危険性」という意味になります。
not thinking clearly で「明晰に考えないこと」です。
think clearly は「理路整然と考える、明晰に考える」です。
この場合は文脈から「科学的に考える」ことですね。

are much greater now than ever before. で「今までよりも、今はずっと大きくなっている」です。
much greater で「ずっと大きく」です。
much や far は比較級を強めて「さらに、ずっと、大幅に」という意味になります。
than ever before で「以前にも増して、今までよりも」です。

It’s not that there’s something new in our way of thinking – で「私たちの考え方に何か新しいものがあるわけではない」です。
It’s not that ～ で「～というわけではない」という意味の言い回しです。
there’s something new で「何か新しいものがある」です。

it’s that credulous and confused thinking can be much more lethal in ways it was never before. で「妄信し混乱してしまう考えは、以前ではなかった形で、ずっと致命的になり得るということです。」です。
it’s that ～ は、先ほどの It’s not that ～「～と言うわけではなく」に対応して「～ということです」となります。
credulous and confused thinking で「信じやすく混乱した考え」です。
credulous ク[レ]ジュラスは「信じやすい、だまされやすい」という意味の形容詞（adjective）です。
例：credulous followers「だまされやすい信奉者たち」
confused カン[フュ]ーズドゥは「混乱した、頭が回らない、よくわかっていない」です。
例：confused discussion「支離滅裂な議論」
can be much more lethal で「より致命的になりうる」です。
lethal リーサォは「致命的な、致死の」です。「命取りになる」という意味です。

in ways it was never before で「今までは全くそうじゃなかった形で」です。
in ways は「～な方法で、～な形で、～な点で」という意味になります。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

今ずっと大きく（なっている）

than ever before.
以前にも増して
