で「世界最大のたばこ販売会社が、電子タバコや加熱式タバコなどの新しい”煙の出ない”製品の販売を促進しようとしている。今まで長く売り広めてきたタバコという命を縮める習慣よりも大幅に害の少ない代替品として。」という意味になります。

The world’s biggest cigarette vendor is trying to promote its new “smoke-free” products, で「世界最大のたばこ販売会社が、新しい”煙の出ない”製品の販売を促進しようとしている」です。

The world’s biggest cigarette vendor は記事を読むと分かりますが、Philip Morris International (PMI)、フィリップモリス社のことです。
vendor は「販売会社、供給業者」という意味です。
動詞形 vend ヴェンドゥは「売る、販売する」という意味です。
例：vending machine「自動販売機」
is trying to promote its new “smoke-free” products, で「同社の新しい”煙の出ない”製品を売り込もうとしている」です。
promote は「促進する」ですが、この場合は会社などが「製品の販売促進をする、世に広めようと宣伝を強化する」という意味になります。

smoke-free products とはどんなものかというと、
like electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco devices, で「電子タバコや加熱式タバコなどの」となります。
like ～ は「～のような、～などの」という意味の前置詞です。
for example, ～ や such as ～「例えば～のような」と同じ意味合いです。
electronic cigarettes は「電子タバコ」です。
いわゆる Vape と呼ばれるものです。
また、heated tabacco「加熱式タバコ」は、IQOSなどのことです。

as far less harmful alternatives to the deadly habit it has long been peddling. で「大幅に害の少ない代替品として、今まで長く売り広めてきた命を縮める習慣（の代替品）」です。
今回の as ～ は後ろに名詞が来ているので「～として」という意味の前置詞です。
far less harmful alternatives で「ずっと害の少ない代替品」です。
far は比較級をより強める意味の副詞で「ずっと、さらに」という意味です。
less harmful で「害がより少ない」です。
alternative オゥ・[タ]・ナ・ティヴは「代わりとなるもの、代替品、代わりになる新しいもの」です。
alternative to ～ で「～の代わりになるもの」という意味になります。
例：alternatives to fossil fuel「化石燃料の代わりになるもの、代替燃料」

何の代わりになるものかというと、
(alternatives to) the deadly habit it has long been peddling で「同社が今まで長く売り捌いてきた死に至る悪習」です。
the deadly habit で「命取りの習慣」です。タバコのことですね。
it has long been peddling で「同社がずっと今まで長く売り歩いてきた」です。
it は前出のフィリップモリス社のことです。
peddle は前出の vend と同じく「売り歩く」という意味の動詞です。
例：peddler「行商人、売人」
この場合は、peddle 「売り歩く」→「世の中に広める」という意味も含まれます。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
