で「６百万年は長いように感じるが、進化論的観点ではかなり短い。私たちはいまだにそれらの親類の類人猿の種族両方と近しい血縁関係であり、チンパンジーよりもわずかにボノボに近い。」という意味になります。

チンパンジーとボノボについての記事です。

Six million years sounds like a long time, で「600万年は長い時間のように感じる」です。
sound like ～ で「～のように聞こえる、～のように思える」です。
seem like ～「～のように見える、～のように思える」とセットで覚えましょう。

but in evolutionary terms it’s rather short. で「しかし進化論的観点では、それはかなり短い」です。
in ～ terms で「～の観点では」という意味の言い回しです。
term には「視点、観点」という意味があります。
例：in global terms「世界的に見れば、世界的な観点から」
rather は「かなり、思ったより、むしろ」という意味の副詞です。

We are still closely related to ～ で「私たちはいまだに～と近い血縁関係だ」です。
still は「いまだに、今も変わらずに」という意味の副詞です。
relate リレイトゥは「つながりがある」という意味の動詞です。
be related to ～ で「～と親類関係にある」という意味になります。
closely related なので「密接に関係がある、近縁関係である」です。
例：I’m related to him.「私は彼と親戚関係だ。」

both of those cousin ape species, で「それら親類の類人猿種族の両方と」です。
両方とは、ボノボとチンパンジーのことです。
cousin カズンは「いとこ、親類」という意味の名詞（noun）です。発音に注意しましょう。
species スピースィーズは「種、種族」です。
-s が付いていますが単数・複数の区別がない単語です。
ape エイプは「類人猿」です。

and slightly more closely to bonobos than to chimps. で「そしてチンパンジーよりもわずかにボノボにより近い」です。
人間はチンパンジーよりもボノボに近いということです。
slightly スライトゥリーは「わずかに」という意味の副詞です。
使える表現ですので覚えておきましょう。
