で「このタイプのテストは、体外受精で作られた受精卵を、子宮へ戻す前に、染色体の数に異常を発見するために検査する。」という意味になります。

The type of testing examines ～ で「そのタイプのテストは～を検査する」です。
The type of testing とは記事内で前述されている PGT-A のことです。
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies の略です。
日本語では「着床前診断」と呼ばれていますね。
examine イグ[ザ]ミンは「検査する、分析する」という意味の動詞です。

何を検査するかというと、
fertilized eggs produced through in-vitro fertilization で「受精卵、体外受精を通して作られた」です。
fertilized eggs で「受精卵」となります。
fertilize [ファ]ーティライズはこの場合は「受精させる」という意味の動詞です。
他にも「土地を肥沃にする」という意味があります。

detector で「探知機、検出器」です。

abnormalities in the number of chromosomes で「染色体の数の異常」ですね。
abnormalities in ～ で「～の中の異常」という意味です。
chromosome ク[ロ]ゥ・モ・ソウムで「染色体」です。
例：X chromosome「X染色体」

before placement in the uterus. で「子宮内へ置く前に」です。
体外受精させた受精卵を子宮に着床させる前にということですね。
uterus [ユ]ータラスは専門用語で「子宮」です。
一般には womb ウームとも言います。
ちなみに「卵巣」はなんというでしょう？
