アメリカ合衆国の映画俳優、ジーン・ハックマン氏の言葉です。

You go through stages in your career that you feel very good about yourself. Then you feel awful, like, ‘Why didn’t I choose something else?’ But overall I’m pretty satisfied that I made the right choice when I decided to be an actor.

で「人はキャリアの中で、とても自分自身に満足している時期も経験する。そしてその後『なんで俺は別の何かを選ばなかったんだ！』というように酷い気分になる時期もある。でも全体としては私は役者になると決めた時に正しい選択をしたと満足している。」という意味になります。

You go through stages in your career で「みんな～な段階を経験する、キャリアの中で」です。
stage は「舞台」という意味もありますが、
この場合の stage はキャリアの中での「段階、局面」という意味になります。

どんな段階かというと、
(that) you feel very good about yourself で「その人がとても自分に満足に感じる（段階）」ですね。
この場合の you は総称人称で「（一般的に）みんな、人」という意味合いです。

Then you feel awful, like, で「そしてその後で惨めに感じる（段階もある）、～みたいに」です。
feel awful で「ひどい気分になる」です。
長いキャリアの中では、自分に満足に感じる時期もあれば、自己嫌悪に陥る時期もある、といういことですね。
like ～ は後ろにセリフなどがきて「～というように」という意味合いです。

‘Why didn’t I choose something else?’ で「なぜ私は選ばなかったんだ、他の何かを」です。
ジーン・ハックマンは俳優なので、
「なんで俳優以外の何かにならなかったんだ、俳優なんかにならなけりゃよかった」というわけです。

But overall I’m pretty satisfied (that ～) で「でも、全体としては、私は今～にかなり満足している」です。
overall は副詞で「全体的には、総合的には、概して」という意味になります。
81歳の今から全てを振り返ってみれば、という意味ですね。

何に満足しているかというと、
(that) I made the right choice when I decided to be an actor. で「私が正しい選択をしたことを、俳優になると決心した時に」です。
make the right choice で「正しい選択をする」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

自分にとても満足している（時期）
