I don’t believe that there’s such a thing as objectivity in much of journalism, but I think there is a serious effort to and a regard for facts and into taking that stuff seriously is very important to the public discourse and it’s very important to democracy.
で「ほとんどのジャーナリズムに客観性などというものは存在しないと思う。だが、客観的でいようとする努力や真実への敬意は存在していると思うし、そういうものを真剣に受け取るような流れを作ることは、世間での言論にとても重要だし、民主主義にとってもとても重要だ。」という意味になります。
I don’t believe that ～ で「～だとは思わない」です。
believe は「信じる」という意味もありますが、この場合は think の意味を強めて「強く思う」という意味合いです。
there’s such a thing as objectivity in much of journalism, で「～がある（とは思わない）、客観性などというものが、大抵のジャーナリズムに」です。
such a thing as ～ で「～というようなもの」という意味の言い回しです。
objectivity オブジェク[ティ]ヴィティで「客観性」です。
反意語（antonym）は subjectivity「主観性」です。
but I think (that) ～ で「しかし～だと思う」です。
there is a serious effort to and a regard for facts で「～はある、真剣に～しようとする努力と、真実への敬意」です。
a serious effort to で「～しようとする真剣な努力」です。
to の後は省略されていますが、おそらく (to) be objective「客観的でいようとする」努力ですね。
a regard for ～「～への敬意」です。
and into taking that stuff seriusly is ～ で「そして、そういうことを真剣に受け止めるように持っていくことは～だ」となります。
into taking that stuff seriously が主語となります。
take ～ seriously で「～を真剣に受け止める」という意味です。
that stuff は「そういうこと、そういったこと」という意味です。
stuff は thing と同じような意味で「こと、もの」という意味で使われます。
into ～ing で「～するように持っていく」という意味合いになります。
例：force ～ into …ing で「～が…するように強制する」
例：talk ～ into …ing で「～が…するように説得する」
省略された部分を補完すれば、(forcing journalism) into taking that stuff seriouly「ジャーナリズムがそういうことを真剣に受け止めるようにさせること」となります。
～ is very important to the public discourse で「～はとても重要だ、世間での言論にとって」です。
public discourse は「世間の言論、世論」と言った意味合いです。
discourse は「会話、演説、言論」という意味の名詞になります。
例：rational discourse「筋の通った話し合い」
それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

この１か月以上悩んでいたのですが、やはり分からないのでお尋ねします。

→ これ以上の元は、たどれないのでしょうか？ インタビューの記事かとも思いますが、何かはっきりしない、文法的にもあやふやな、たくさん補わないと意味の取れない文に思えます。
メルマガの解説では、次の ア のようになると思います。
ア I don’t believe that there’s such a thing as objectivity in much of journalism,// but I think/ there is a serious effort to and a regard for facts / and into taking that stuff seriously is very important to the public discourse //and it’s very important to democracy.
以下、疑問点です。
１ , but 以下の文ですが、 a serious effort to and a regard for facts が主語なら、there is ではなく、there are となるのでは？
２ into taking that stuff seriously is very important のところですが、 is の主語が into taking that stuff seriously というのは、どうも納得できません。
into taking that stuff seriously は前の regard を説明しているのではないでしょうか？
つまり、regard （① for facts and ② into taking that staff seriously）is very important.
したがって、is の主語は a regard と取ることはできませんか？
→「事実を尊重し、事実を真剣に受け取るように尊重することは、とても大事です。」
３ 最後の文の it です。先生は「そういうものを真剣に受け取るような流れを作ることは、世間での言論にとても重要だし、民主主義にとってもとても重要だ。」とされていますが、この it
を the piblic discourse （世論）と取ることは、飛躍でしょうか？
この文全体の意識の流れは、〔マスコミの客観性→事実の報道→世論→民主主義］となっているのではないかと、思うのです。
まとめると、次のように英文を切ることはできないか？ ということです。
イ I don’t believe that there’s such a thing as objectivity in much of journalism, // but I
think / there is a serious effort to /and a regard for facts and into taking that stuff seriously / is very important to the public discourse // and it’s very important to democracy.

ご指摘いただいた点、見直してみました。
確かにおっしゃる通りで、there is ～ の句は、a serious effort to までで区切るべきですね。
is 単数形が使われてることを完全に見落としていました。
into taking that stuff seriously が主語になるという解釈は実は私もあまり自信がありませんでした。
今回見直してみて、
regard が is の主語になるというところは文法的に見ておっしゃる通りかと思います。
（ただ a regard into ～ing という用法はあるのでしょうか？）
この文はおそらくJann Wenner氏がインタビュー中にしゃべったことをテキストに起こしたものかと思いますので厳密な文法解釈は難しいのかなとも思いますが、今回ご指摘いただき、見えていなかった部分が見えてきた気がします。

私も、「regard が is の主語になるというところは文法的に見ておっしゃる通りかと思います。
（ただ a regard into ～ing という用法はあるのでしょうか？）」のところは、
まだスッキリとはしていません。
