TED-Edより「How playing an instrument benefits your brain(楽器演奏は脳にどのような効果をもたらすか)」です。

The most obvious difference between listening to music and playing it is that the latter requires fine motor skills, which are controlled in both hemispheres of the brain. It also combines the linguistic and mathematical precision, in which the left hemisphere is more involved, with the novel and creative content that the right excels in.

It also combines the linguistic and mathematical precision, in which the left hemisphere is more involved, with the novel and creative content that the right excels in.

The most obvious difference between ~ and …
listening to musicplaying it の違いです。

(that) the latter requires fine motor skills,
listening to musicplaying it の後者なので playing it のことです。

, which are controlled in ~ で「(その緻密な運動能力は)~の中でコントロールされている」です。
in both hemispheres of the brain.

It also combines ~ with …
the linguistic and mathematical precision,
, in which the left hemisphere is more involved,
He was involved in a gang.「彼はギャングと関わりがある。」

combine ~ with …
(with) the novel and creative content
例:a clever play that lacks content「気が利いているが深みのない芝居」
(that) the right excels in.
the rightthe right (hemisphere)
