Today, on the way to an exam, I saw a car accident happen. I stopped, helped the woman who was injured, and waited for the paramedics. I was late to school, the teacher didn’t buy my excuse, and I failed the exam. It was an exam to test my first aid skills. FML

Today, on the way to an exam, I saw a car accident happen. I stopped, helped the woman who was injured, and waited for the paramedics. I was late to school, the teacher didn’t buy my excuse, and I failed the exam. It was an exam to test my first aid skills. FML
で「今日、テストに向かう途中で車の事故が起こるのを目撃した。私は止まって負傷した女性を助け、救急隊員が来るのを待った。学校に遅れ、先生は私の言い訳を信じなかったので、試験は落第となった。それは応急処置技術をテストする試験だった。」という意味になります。

on the way to an exam, で「試験への道中で」です。
on the way to ～ で「～へ向かう途中で」という意味の言い回し。
an exam は「テスト、試験」ですので、つまり学校へ向かう途中ということですね。
I saw a car accident happen. で「私は車の事故が起こるのを見た」です。
知覚動詞の用法で see ～ do … で「～が…するのを見る」という意味です。後ろの動詞が原型になります。

I stopped, helped the woman で「私は止まって、その女性を助けた」です。
the woman who was injured, で「傷を負ったその女性を」です。
be injured で「傷を負った、負傷した」です。
and waited for the paramedics. で「そして、救急隊員たちが来るのを待った」です。
paramedic パラ[メ]ディクで「救急医療隊員」という意味になります。
つまり救急車が来るのを待った、ということですね。

I was late to school, で「私は学校に遅れた」です。
be late to ～ で「～に遅れる」です。
be late for ～ とも言えますが、これらの違いは以下のようです。

be late to ～ はすでにその場に到着した状態、
be late for ～ はまだ到着していない状態、ということです。

the teacher didn’t buy my excuse で「先生は私の言い訳を信じなかった」です。
buy は「買う」ですが、この場合は「～を信じる、～を受け入れる」という意味です。
例：buy someone’s apology「人の謝罪を受け入れる」、I don’t buy it.「私はそうは思いませんね。」

and I failed the exam. で「なので私は試験に落ちた」です。
fail an exam で「試験に落ちる」、反対は pass an exam で「試験に通る、合格する」です。

It was an exam to test ～ で「それは～をテストするための試験だった」です。
ここでの test は動詞で「～をテストする」という意味です。
(test) my first aid skills. で「わたしのファーストエイド技能（をテストする）」です。
first aid は「応急処置」という意味の言い回し。
aid エイドゥは「手当て、救済、補助」という意味です。
paramedics が来る前に「最初に行う応急手当」という意味合いですね。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
