You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.

You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.
で「個人一人ひとりの改善なくして、より良い世界の構築は望めない。その目的のためには、私たち一人ひとりが自分自身の改善に努力しなければならない。それと同時に、全人類に対するいろいろな責任を共有していかなければならない。自分が一番役に立てるであろうと思える人たちの一助となることを自分独自の務めとしながらも。」という意味になります。

You cannot hope to do ～ で「人は～することを望めない」となります。
ここでの you は総称人称（generic you）で「（一般的に）人は～」という意味合いです。
cannot hope to do ～ で「～することは望めない、～するのは無理だ」です。
build a better world without ～ で「より良い世界を作り上げることは（無理だ）、～なしには」です。
without improving the individuals. で「個人個人を改善することなしには」です。
individual インディヴィジュアォで「個人」という意味の名詞です。
the individuals なので「（この世界を構成する）個人個人」という意味合いです。

To that end, で「その目的のために、その目的に向けて」です。
ここでの end は「目的、目標」という意味の名詞。
each of us must work for his own improvement で「私たち一人ひとりが自分自身の改善に努めなければならない」です。
work for ～ で「～のためにがんばる、努力する」です。
his own improvement の his は each of us を受けたものです。

and, at the same time, ～ で「そしてそれと同時に～」
share a general responsibility で「全般的な責任の一部を担（わなければならない）」です。
どんな責任かというと、
(responsibility) for all humanity, で「全人類に対する（責任）」です。

, our particular duty being to aid ～ で「私たちの自分独自の務めを～を助けることとしながらも、」という意味です。
our particular duty を意味上の主語とした独立分詞構文になっています。
接続詞を使った文に直すと、
, as our particular duty is to aid ～「私たちの自分独自の務めを～を助けることとしながらも、」です。
particular は「個別の、特定の、特別な」という意味です。
先に出てきた general「全般的な」と対になっていますね。
自分独自の務めというのは何かというと、
to aid those で「～な人々を助けること」です。
those は those people と同じ意味で「それらの人々」です。
to whom ～ と、前置詞 to を伴った関係代名詞が続いて、
(to whom) we think we can be most useful. で「自分がもっとも役に立てると思える（人々）」となります。
we think ～ は連鎖関係代名詞の用法です。

to whom の to は、useful to ～ に繋がっています。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
