で「この文章には後ほど戻ってきますね。今は話を進めましょう。紀元400年にはイギリスのケルト人たちはローマ人によって支配されていました。このことはケルト人にとっても一つ良いことがありました。ローマ人たちが北ヨーロッパの未開人サクソン族から彼らを守ってくれたのです。」という意味になります。

We’ll come back to them later. で「私たちは～に戻ってくることになる、それらに、後ほど」です。
We’ll は We will の略。
つまり先ほど作った文章は、スピーチの最後の方で触れるのでお楽しみに、ということですね。
Now on to our story. で「今は私たちのストーリーに進みましょう」です。
on to ～ は (go) on to ～ で「～に進む」

In the year 400 C.E. で「紀元400年には」です。
C.E. は Christian Era の略です。ピリオドは省略を意味します。
参考：省略の記号としてのピリオド（period）

the Celts in Britain were ruled by Romans. で「イギリスのケルト人たちはローマ人たちに支配されていた」です。
Celt ケルトゥは「ケルト人」です。

This had one benefit for the Celts で「このことは一つの恩恵を持っていた、ケルト人たちにとって」です。
this はローマ人によって支配されていたことをさしています。
have a benefit で「利点がある」です。
コロン（:）で「それはつまり～」
the Romans protected them from ～ で「ローマ人たちがケルト人たちを～から守ってくれた」
(from) the barbarian Saxon tribes of Northern Europe. で「未開人サクソン族から、北ヨーロッパの」です。
barbarian は「未開人の、野蛮な」という意味の形容詞です。
of Northern Europe の of は所属を表して「～にいる、～の一部である」という意味になっています。
