TED-Edより「傷つく心の力（The Power of Vulnerability）」です。

So I was very excited about this. And so I thought, you know what, this is the career for me, because I am interested in some messy topics. But I want to be able to make them not messy. I want to understand them. I want to hack into these things that I know are important and lay the code out for everyone to see.

So I was very excited about this. And so I thought, you know what, this is the career for me, because I am interested in some messy topics. But I want to be able to make them not messy. I want to understand them. I want to hack into these things that I know are important and lay the code out for everyone to see.
で「だから私は、このことにすごくワクワクしていました。そして思ったんです。そうか、これこそ私にぴったりの仕事だって。というのも、私はごちゃごちゃしていて整理しにくいテーマに興味がある。でも、そのごちゃごちゃを、ちゃんと整理して分かるものにしたいんです。私はそれらを理解したい。そういう重要な問題の内部に入り込んで、その仕組みを解き明かし、まるでコードを全部広げて見せるように、誰にでも分かる形にしたいんです。」という意味になります。

So ～「なので～」
I was very excited about this.「私はこのことですごくワクワクしたんです。」
this「このこと」とは、先の教授が発言を指しています。

And so ～「それで～」
I thought,「私は思いました。」
you know what, this is the career for me,「そうか、これが私の進むべき道だ。」
because I am interested in some messy topics.「だって、私はごちゃごちゃしたテーマに興味があるから。」です。
you know what は、話し言葉でとてもよく使われる柔軟な表現で、
ここでは自分の中で考えがまとまった瞬間を示して「そうか、そうだ、まあつまり」といった感じの意味合いです。

But ～「でも～」
I want to be able to make them not messy.「私はそれらを整理できるようになりたい。」
I want to understand them.「それらを理解したい。」
I want to hack into these things「私はこれらのものの内部に入り込んでいきたい。」
that I know are important「私が重要だと確信している（これらのものに）」
この that I know ～ は連鎖関係代名詞節の用法。

and ～「そして～」
lay the code out「そのソースコードを拡げて見せ（たい）」
for everyone to see.「みんなが見れるように」です。
hack into ～ は本来「～にハッキングして侵入する」という意味です。
ここではコンピューターの比喩で「複雑な問題の内部まで入り込み、その仕組みを徹底的に分析する」という意味です。
lay ～ out「～を見えるように並べる」です。
the code は「ソースコード」です。プログラムの中身という意味ですね。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。

わたしはこの出来事にすごくワクワクしたんです

And so
それで

I thought,
思いました

you know what,
そうだ

this is the career for me,
これが私が進むべき道だ

because I am interested in
だって私は～に興味がある

some messy topics.
ごちゃごちゃしたテーマに

But
でも

I want to be able to
私は～できるようになりたい

make them not messy.
それらを整理整頓（できるように）

I want to understand them.
私はそれらを理解したい

I want to hack into these things
これらのことにハックして入り込みたい

that I know are important
私が重要だと確信している（これらのことに）

and lay the code out
そしてその中のソースコードを並べたい

for everyone to see.
