で「アップルの幹部は今まで公には自社の自動運転車開発については語ってこなかったが、先月、アップルのある刑事事件の訴訟書類によって、同社には少なくとも5,000人の自動運転車開発プログラムに携わる従業員がいること、そしてアップルは回路基板と自社開発チップの開発に取り組んでいることが確認された。」という意味になります。

Apple executives have never publicly spoken about ～ で「アップルの幹部たちは～についてはこれまで公には語ってこなかった」となります。
executive イグゼキュティヴは「（会社などの）重役、幹部、（政府の）高官」と言う意味の名詞です。
例：gathering of top executives「重役の会合」
publicly パブリクリィは「公に、公開で、公然と」です。
形容詞形は public パブリック「公の、大衆に公開された、公衆の」です。
have never spoken about なので「～について語ることはなかった」です。
spoken スポウクンは speak の過去分詞形です。

何について語ってこなかったのかというと、
the company’s self-driving car program, で「同社の自動運転車プログラム（について）」です。
the company’s は「その会社の」です。アップル社のことですね。
its とも言い換えられます。
self-driving で「自動運転の」となります。
program は「プログラム、計画、カリキュラム」などという意味合いです。
この場合は開発プログラムのことですね。

but「しかし」

filings in a criminal court case last month が主語で、「先月にある刑事事件の訴訟で提出した書類」となります。
a criminal court case で「刑事事件」です。
criminal court は「刑事裁判所」です。
case は「事件」となります。

記事の後の方で出てきますが、アップルが実験中の自動運転車が他の車に追突された（rear-ended）ので、それに関しての裁判ですね。

confirmed that ～ で「～ということを確認された」となります。
上記のこと（アップルが訴訟を起こしたこと）が、that 以下を confirmed「証明した、立証した」です。

何が立証（confirmed）されたのかというと、
the company had at least 5,000 employees working on the project で「同社には少なくとも5,000人の自動運転車開発プログラムに携わる従業員がいること」です。
the company had at least 5,000 employees で「同社は少なくとも5000人の従業員を抱えている」です。
どんな従業員かというと、
working on the project「そのプロジェクトに取り組んでいる（従業員）」です。

また、
it was working on circuit boards and a “proprietary chip” related to self-driving cars. で「アップルは回路基板と自社開発チップの開発に取り組んでいる（こと）」です。
it はアップルのことです。
it was working on circuit boards で「サーキットボード（回路基板）の開発に取り組んでいる」です。
work on ～ で「～の（開発・制作・修理など）に取り組む」と言う意味になります。
例：work on a new novel「新作小説の執筆に取り組む」
circuit boards は「コンピューターの回路基板」です。
proprietary chip で「特許をもつチップ、自社開発のチップ」です。
proprietary は「所有の、独占所有の、私有の、特許で守られた」と言う意味になります。
例：proprietary article「特許品」、proprietary brand「自社ブランド」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
