Today, for the first time in months, my best friend agreed to hang out with me. After waiting, three hours for him to show up, I called to see what was taking him so long. He told me he couldn’t come because he needed to get a haircut. FML

Today, for the first time in months, my best friend agreed to hang out with me. After waiting, three hours for him to show up, I called to see what was taking him so long. He told me he couldn’t come because he needed to get a haircut. FML
で「今日、数カ月ぶりに一番の親友が一緒に遊びに行ってくれることになった。彼が来るまで3時間待った後で、電話をして何にそんなに時間かかっているのかと聞いた。彼は、今日は行けない、散髪しなくちゃいけないからと言った。F*ck my life!」という意味になります。

for the first time in months で「数カ月ぶりに」となります。
for the first time なら「はじめて」ですが、
for the first time in ～ となると「～ぶりに、～以内で初めて」という意味になります。
months で「数か月」という意味です。

my best friend agreed to hang out with me で「一番の親友が同意した、私と一緒に遊ぶのを」です。
agree to ～ で「～するのに同意する、～してもいいと言う」です。
hang out は「あそぶ、あそびに出かける」という意味の句動詞です。
特に何をするとも決まっていないけど友達と遊ぶ約束をするという意味合いです。

After waiting, three hours for him to show up, で「待った後、彼が現れるまでの3時間を」です。
three hours for him to show up でまとめて一つの名詞句で「彼が現れるまでの3時間」という意味になります。

I called to see what ～ で「私は（彼に）電話した、何が～なのかを確かめるために」です。
この場合の see は「確かめる、確認する」という意味になります。
他にも see if ～「～かどうか確かめる」, see why ～「なぜ～なのかを確かめる」です。

何を確かめるために電話したかというと、
what was taking him so long で「何がそんなに長く（時間が）かかっているのか」です。
take で「時間がかかる」という意味の動詞です。
例：It didn’t take me long to find it.「それを見つけるのにそんなに時間はかかりませんでした／すぐに見つかりました」

He told me で「彼は～と私に言った」

he couldn’t come because he needed to get a haircut. で「彼は来れないと、なぜなら、彼は散髪しなければならないから」です。
get a haircut で「散髪する」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
