Many recommendations of investment gurus around the world are sensible and universal. Beyond some shared basics, though, their counsel differs in telling ways. They may not know it, but finfluencers hold up a mirror to their countries’ financial mores.
で「かつて、金融アドバイスは、高額の報酬を受け取る専門家によって、しかも富裕層だけに提供されるものだった。ところが今では、ソーシャルメディア上の大勢の “フィンフルエンサー” 達が、誰にでも、どこでも、投資の助言をまくしたてている。世界各地の投資の専門家が示す助言の多くは、理にかなっており、どこでも通用するものだ。しかし、いくつかの共通する基本を超えると、その助言には、その国ならではの特徴がはっきりと表れる。本人たちは気づいていないかもしれないが、フィンフルエンサーは、それぞれの国の金融に対する価値観や慣習を鏡のように映し出しているのだ。」という意味になります。
Financial advice was once で「金融アドバイスは、かつては～だった」です。
(was) doled out で「配られた、分配された」です。
dole out は「～を少しずつ分配する」という意味の動詞句。
例：dole-out policy「ばらまき政策」
solely by well-paid professionals, で「稼ぎの良い専門家だけによって」です。
solely は only と同義で「もっぱら～のみ」です。
solely by ～ で「～だけによって」となります。
well-paid は「高額な報酬をもらっている、稼ぎの良い」という意味の形容詞。
well-paid professionals は、具体的には、金融アドバイザー・投資顧問・プライベートバンカーなどを指しています。
, and ～「また～」
solely to the wealthy. で「富裕層にのみ（与えられていた）」です。
solely to ～ で「～にだけ、～にのみ」
the wealthy は「富裕層、裕福な人たち」という意味です。
the + 形容詞で「～な人々」という意味になります。
例：the rich「金持ち」、the unemployed「失業者たち」
Today「今の時代は、現代では」
legions of social-media “finfluencers” で「大勢のSNS上のフィンフルエンサー達が」です。
legions of ～ で「～の大群、大勢の～」という意味の言い回しです。
legion は「（古代ローマの）軍団、レジオン」という意味の名詞。
finfluencers は finance と influencer の、かばん語（portmanteau）ですね。
fin- が付くものでは他にも、fintech「金融テクノロジー」、fincrime「金融犯罪」などがあります。
spout off recommendations で「お薦めをまくし立てている」です。
spout off ～ で「とうとうとしゃべる、まくし立てる」です。
spout は「～を噴き出す、噴出する、ペラペラしゃべる」という意味の動詞。
名詞では「（ティーポットの）注ぎ口」という意味もあります。
to anyone, anywhere. で「誰にでも、どこでも」
Many recommendations of で「～のお薦めの多くは」
(of) investment gurus「投資のカリスマたち（の）」
around the world「世界中の」です。
guru はインドヒンドゥー教の「指導者、リーダー、導師」という意味の名詞ですが、
現在では、ある分野に非常に詳しく、大きな影響力を持つ人物「教祖的存在」を指して使われます。
are sensible and universal.「（それらの多くは）分別があって汎用的なものである。」です。
sensible は「分別のある、理にかなった」という意味の形容詞。
universal は「普遍的な、広く共通する、あらゆる状況に対応する」という意味の形容詞です。
どちらもポジティブな意味ですね。
Beyond some shared basics, though,「だが、共通の基礎的部分を超えたところでは、」
basics は「物事の初歩的な要素、基礎、基本」です。
例：the basics of investing「投資の基礎」
ABCs や fundamentals などとも言えます。
their counsel differs in telling ways. で「彼らの助言はそれぞれ違っている、示唆に富んだ形で」です。
counsel は「（専門家による）助言」です。不可算名詞で通常は a counsel や counsels とはしません。
differ は「異なる、～ごとに違う」という意味の動詞。
in telling ways. で「示唆に富んだ形で、いろいろなことを物語るような形で」です。
telling はここでは形容詞で「（無意識に本心や内情などを）露呈するような」という意味。
例：telling comment「本心をのぞかせるような一言」、a telling expression「意味ありげな表情」
They may not know it, but ～ で「彼らは気づいていないかもしれないが～」
finfluencers hold up a mirror to 「フィンフルエンサー達は～を鏡のように映し出している」です。
hold up a mirror to ～ で「～に向かって鏡を掲げている」ですが、
慣用句的に「～を鏡のように映し出す、～を反映している」です。
(to) their countries’ financial mores. で「自分たちの国の金融モーレス（を反映している）」です。
mores は[モ]ーレイズと呼んで「習律、歴史的慣習、道徳的姿勢」という意味の名詞。
countries’ は、country の複数形 countries の所有格です。
country → country’s「その国の」
countries → countries’「それらの国々の」
それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
