で「『私たちはこの年号が国民に広く受け入れられ、日々の生活の一部として深く根付くことを願います。』と、菅官房長官は、年号の初公表の場で記者たちに言った。その年号は、白地に墨書で漢字2文字で書かれていた。」という意味になります。

We hope (that) ～ で「私たちは～を願う」です。

何を願うのかというと、
(that) the era name will be widely accepted by the people で「この元号が国民に広く受け入れられる（ことを）」です。
また、
and deeply rooted as part of their daily lives で「そして彼らの毎日の生活の一部として深く根付く（ことを）」です。
era イーラは「時代」という意味の名詞です。
era name でこの場合は「年号、元号」という意味になります。
例：Heisei era「平成時代」、cold war era「冷戦時代」
accepted by the people で「国民に受け入れられた」です。
the people と the がついて「国民、人民」という意味になります。

Suga told reporters で「菅（官房長官）は記者たちに言った」です。
told トールドゥは tell の過去形です。

in first announcing the name で「元号の初めての発表で」です。

(the name, ) written in two Chinese characters で「二文字の漢字で書かれた（元号）」です。
Chinese character は「漢字」です。
character は「性格」という意味以外にも「文字」という意味もあります。
例：handwriting character「手書き文字」
calligraphy は「書、書道、カリグラフィー」です。
例：calligraphy work「書の作品」、calligrapher「書家」

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
