で「政治とは人々の生活の改善である。政治とは、我が国や世界で、平和や正義という理念を発展させることだ。政治とは国民のため役に立つことだ。」という意味になります。

Politics is about the improvement of people’s lives.「政治とは人々の生活の改善である」です。
～ is about … の言い回しで「～とは…である、～は…がすべてだ」という意味になります。
politics は「政治、政治学」という意味で、-s がついていますが複数形ではありません。
the improvement of people’s lives で「国民の生活の改善」です。
lives はlife の複数形ですので、ライヴズと読みます。

It’s about advancing ～ で「それは～を前進させることである」です。
It は politics を指しています。
何を前進させることかというと、
the cause of peace and justice で「平和と公正という理念を」
cause は「原因」という意味もありますがここでは「理念、大義」という意味です。
in our country and the world.「我が国で、そして世界で」です。

Politics is about doing well for the people. で「政治とは、国民のために役立つことだ」です。
do well は「うまくいく、うまくやる、好成績を出す」です。
例：do well in business「ビジネスで成功する」、do well on exam「テストで好結果を出す」
for the people で「国民のために」です。

それではまず文節に分けて日本語に訳し内容を理解して下さい。
